Dudley Watkins shows his masterly ability from realism to caricature in these panels along with his pencilled notes on how Nosey and Dosey should be depicted and editorial suggestions on possible drawing changes (ignored!).
In this Beano issue alone Watkins drew ‘Wavy Davy and his Navy’, a full page ‘Lord Snooty’, a double page ‘Shipwrecked Circus’, and this magnificent ‘Tom Thumb’ double page. Practically half the comic drawn single-handedly by an artist at the height of his powers.
