79 Treasure Island signed original Artwork by Dudley Watkins from The Topper No. 7 (1953). Jim Hawkins uncovers Flint’s treasure map.... First drawn by Watkins in black and white, Treasure Island was initially published in D.C. Thomson’s The People’s Journal in 1949. The illustrated story was then produced in book form for Thomson’s "Told In Pictures" series in 1950, after which the artwork was redrawn with extended panels by Watkins and coloured by him to fit The Topper format in 1953. It appeared on the back cover of issue 7 and was finally reprinted for The Topper No. 476 in 1962. Dudley Watkins’ fine draughtsmanship and eye for detail are fully exploited in this classic artwork page. 23x18" with Treasure Island "Told In Pictures" book and The Topper No. 476 (3)

The following run of Tiger Comics is near complete from issue 1 in 1954 to 4th September 1965. Like most stapled comics of that period the staples were made of tinplate which readily rusted, in this case disintegrating and discolouring the surrounding paper. Therefore the general grade of the following eleven lots is good/very good minus:
