artwork by Dudley Watkins for The Magic Beano Book 1948, pgs 27-32

time and his transported football saves the day by knocking the poisoned chalice
from the king’s hand. Complete six page story. To our knowledge, the first ‘Jimmy’
artworks ever to be offered at auction.
*Synopsis: On his way to school one day, young
Jimmy Watson saves an old gypsy’s cat from the jaws of a bull terrier, tearing
his shorts in the process. Suitably grateful, the gypsy repairs them with a piece
cut from a magic carpet, henceforth giving Jimmy the ability to travel back in
time just by thinking about it!
