The New Adventures of Rupert (1936) D. Express. First Rupert Annual with dustjacket. The annual shows light minimal wear to the boards with a neat dated dedication. Pages are generally clean and creamy white throughout with a few finger marks. There are a few foxing spots. The "crayon" page is neatly crayoned. The other "Pictures For Your Paint-Box" pages are untouched. The dustjacket has several missing chips near to top and bottom of spine with two tears of 1½ and 2 inches respectively but no loss. Allan Morley (1895-1960) was one of D C Thomson’s most prolific artists. From 1925 he drew Keyhole Kate, Hungry Horace, Nero And Zero, Uncle Dan and Big Fat Joe. In 1947 (along with star illustrator Dudley Watkins) he was allowed the rare privilege of signing his work.

Arguably The Beano’s most popular character, Dennis has been menacing for over fifty years and, to our knowledge, this is the first piece of his artwork ever to surface at auction.
